With Lightstream, you’ll be able to add overlays in no time at all because it has an easy-to-use interface. Are you unsure how to add overlays on Lightstream? We’ll walk you through the process step by step. Simple for a beginner!
Encoding software is something that anyone who wants to stream live will have to learn about at some point.
When it comes down to it, encoding software is a piece of software that helps you compress and change the format of video files.
RAW video files are usually very big, which makes it hard to send them over the web. They’d use so much bandwidth.
Because of an encoder, this process would be a lot more simple.
As a side note, what people call live streaming software are encoders. They’re the same thing, but if you’re new to live streaming, you might not know about the other.
Software encoders can make great videos. Because they have so many options, streamers use them to change their live stream. And, some of them even cost nothing at all.
Today, we’ll show you how to add overlays to Lightstream, and we’ll also show you how to make Lightstream look better by adding text.

What is Lightstream?
Lightstream or Lightstream Studio is a cloud-based live streaming service that lets you manage a live stream through a web browser. It allows you to set up and manage a live stream.
So you don’t have to install it on the computer before using it.
As long as everything is in the cloud, you can use all of the features without putting a lot of strain on your computer.
No, it’s not a watered-down version of a regular encoder just because it’s cloud-based. It’s just as reliable as those requiring file installation.
In short, this software is suited for streamers who don’t want to stress over CPU consumption. Keep in mind that games are known for being CPU intensive.
With another draining program taking up a lot of space, it could have a big impact on how well the computer runs.
The interface on this program is easy to use, especially for people who haven’t used it before.
The dashboard looks clean and simple. The features are also very good.
There are a lot of things you can do quickly with this app. You can add overlays, scenes, multiple cameras feeds, and much more.
Does Lightstream have overlays?
Yes, It gives you a few simple overlays, like text, camera footage, and screen share.
But if you want high-quality graphics on your stream, third-party integration is one of the best things about it.
It lets you get dynamic content from other services, like StreamElements, Rainmakers.gg, and so on.
The process is like adding browser sources to other encoders, but it’s a little different.
You only need a unique link to the overlay you made in service.
Lightstream Studio has a field where you can copy and paste the text. You can put it there.
You’ll see that picture on the scene when the integration is done. It’s the same for other overlays or layers if that’s what you want to call them.
The “3rd party integrations” menu has some suggestions if you don’t know where to look for services that help you make overlays if you need them.
How to add overlays to Twitch Xbox using Lightstream
- Click on this link to go to Lightstream’s official website.
Scroll down and hit the ‘Start Streaming’ button. This will prompt you to question the platform to broadcast your live stream.
This time we’re gonna assume it’s Twitch. So click on ‘Twitch’ from the selection.
On the next page, you’ll see the subscription plans. There are two alternatives, Gamer and Creator. Each one includes a 7-day trial. The Gamer plan is offered in 3 resolutions, so please choose accordingly.
Click on ‘Start 7-Day Trial’, and then you should complete the transaction by choosing one of the payment processors. Don’t forget to tick the ‘Terms of Sale’ box before hitting the purchase button.
After the system has confirmed your order, you’ll be redirected to the Lightstream dashboard. Navigate to an upside-down triangle on the top left corner. Left-click it to unveil the dropdown menu with the list of your projects. To create a new one, just click ‘Add New.’
Make sure to select ‘Gamer Plan’ as this is the one that allows for Xbox feed integration.
Click ‘My Project’ next to the Lightstream logo. Pick a name, resolution, and then move the ‘Auto Live Project’ slider to the right. Once the settings are to your liking, click ‘Submit.’
The blank canvas renders a preview for any added element to the scene. Meanwhile, the left sidebar organizes all the new components that this program specifically recognizes as layers. Place the pointer on the ‘+’ sign to add a new layer and then click it.
This action will reveal all sources you can import to the scene.
Navigate to ‘ Game Source’ to attach game capture from your Xbox. After clicking it, a huge banner with a gamepad image will appear.
Now shift your focus to the Xbox Twitch app. Log in to the app, head to the broadcast tab. In the ‘Destination’ field, you’re supposed to select ‘Lightstream.’ The rest of the settings can be adjusted to how you want.
That’s all, now the stream output will change direction to Lightstream to pick up all the layers before it’s forwarded to Twitch.

How do I add Streamlabs overlay to Lightstream?
It works in the same way as adding layers from outside sources.
After you follow the steps in the previous section, you won’t have any trouble adding overlays from Streamlabs, Streamelements, or another.
It’s simple: Just hit the plus sign and choose “3rd party integrations.”
It’s easy: Paste the overlay URL into the field next to it, make some changes, and then you’ll see the graphic on the scene.
Can you use animated overlays on Lightstream?
Yes, Absolutely. Lightstream can also handle animated overlays.
Support for static and animated graphics has become the norm in software encoders, so you shouldn’t worry about that.
Where can I get free Lightstream overlays?
A click on ‘3rd party integrations’ will take you to a section filled with overlay service suggestions.
There’s Botisimo, Muxy, Pixel Chat, and much more.
If you have no clue where streamers acquire their attractive overlays, this will help a lot.
Lightstream has an easy-to-use interface, so you’ll be able to add overlays in no time at all, thanks to it.
But is this program worth taking a look at?
To be fair, it’s not up for debate. It’s not just the ease of third-party integration that makes this program stand out, but its remote accessibility is also a major plus.
If you only want to play games on your computer, this would be a great choice instead of a program that needs to be installed first.
There are two things you need to start making a professional live stream: a web browser and a fast internet connection.
It also lets you use your smartphone to control things quickly from afar.
